Sergeant Jack died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision.

Sergeant Malcolm Jack was born in 1920 in Glasgow, Scotland. He joined the British Army in 1937. During the Second World War, he fought in North Africa, Italy, and took part in the D-Day landings.

Following the war, Jack joined the Strathclyde Police Force. In 1952, he emigrated to Canada with his family, and joined the Edmonton Police Department.
On July 2, 1959, while responding to a fire alarm at the Capital City Box Company, the police vehicle in which he was a passenger was struck by a fire truck responding to the same alarm.
Sergeant Jack sustained serious head and chest injuries. He was rushed to hospital but never regained consciousness.
Sergeant Jack was 39 when he died. He was survived by his wife and six children.
