Cst. George Donnelly

End of Watch: May 8, 1955
Constable Donnelly was electrocuted when he came in contact with a 4000-volt power line.
On May 8, 1955, Constable Donnelly was dispatched to a call of a power line brought down in a windstorm. According to an eyewitness, Donnelly “stiffened then collapsed to the ground,” after coming in contact with the line. He was rushed to the University Hospital but medical staff were unable to revive him.
Constable Donnelly was 35 years old at the time of his death. He left behind his wife, four sons, and two daughters.
He is buried in St. Joachim Cemetery.
